Overview

One of the oldest art galleries of Babeș-Bolyai University bears the name of Cluj artist Paul Sima (1932–1991). He became famous for his monumental works and expressive paintings depicting various scenes and motifs from Transylvanian villages. Paul Sima started the exhibition tradition in this space, presenting to the public works by students and graduates of the Ion Andreescu Institute of Fine Arts (now the University of Arts and Design). Thus, in the gallery space, you will find mainly the works of young artists who are just starting and need the support and attention of the public, as well as the works of established artists. We invite you to discover beauty in its various forms of expression.

Exhibitions

The Paul Sima Gallery’s exhibition space hosts only temporary exhibitions.

Collections

The collection of works by artists who have exhibited in the Paul Sima Gallery over the years

At the end of each exhibition, each artist who exhibited donates a work that becomes part of the ACHD heritage. These works are displayed in various spaces at BBU and in retrospective exhibitions.

Activities

Our vernissages and exhibitions are open to all age groups. We also host various other cultural activities, such as book releases, conferences, and guided tours.

For students, the gallery is a volunteering opportunity and is open to anyone interested, regardless of their field of study.
